Today is a hard day for my family. Today we helped our wonderful Jojo find her way to the other side. Just a couple of weeks ago Jojo started to slow down. Pretty dramatically and after a vet visit yesterday, our worst fears were confirmed. Large growths had spread from her spleen throughout her body and were affecting most of her internal organs. She was suffering and not long for our world. I was and am heartbroken.
Jojo came to us from The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society back in 2015. She was in need of a home and we felt ready to adopt a pet into our family. I vastly underestimated the amount of love and joy Jojo would bring to our lives. The years with her were truly special.
The term pet is really just a fancy way of saying non-human child to me. Jojo was truly part of our family. She shared our moments of joy and even our sadness. Over the years Jojo taught us patience, trust and absolute love. Letting her go was not easy and I will be sad for a long time.
